An authentic easy Thai beef salad.

thai beef salad recipe

Thai beef salad.

This easy-to-cook Thai beef salad is tangy, salty, spicy, and amazingly delicious with glutinous sticky rice.
Another name for Thai beef salad is Yum Nua.

What I have here is a little twist to classic Yum Nua (Thai beef salad)!

Instead of marinating the beef, I grilled the beef, thinly sliced it, and drizzled or dipped the beef into the bowl of dressing.
And served with sticky glutinous rice.

Counting days till we fly to Bangkok... yay

This will be our first "Mom and Daughter" trip without the boys.

It's time for a family visit/ holiday to Malaysia again. The last visit was in 2010. I always felt that it was such a waste just to fly into KL and not take advantage of the cheap airfare and fly to one of the neighboring countries.

With a few clicks on webpages in search of good deals on airfares, accommodations, and possible destinations, Bangkok came to the top of my list.
... but the boys aren't interested...

It is definitely going to be more of a shopping trip rather than a seeing-touristy trip,
... 'shop till she drops' adventure for E.

She is looking forward to exploring all the shops, with the hope that she may find something nice and decent (on Mom's strict order!!!)a dress or Ball Gown for her Year 12 Prom Night
(is it called Prom Night? I can't remember the exact name of this 'major event' for all Year 12s ...am out of touch. After all, I didn't have such an event when I finished High School!).

Oh yes... she has done her "contribution" for the trip by googling and mapping out her shopping routes, from one end of Bangkok to another, plus listing down hotels within walking distance to shopping precincts (with warning spoken out loud: "Mom, not the haunted hotels, ok!!")

I just hope that I have the stamina to keep up with this excited 16-year-old shopaholic.
And me? I am excited to revisit the city.... but I don't think I will be shopping as much as Little Miss Shopaholic... perhaps 1 or 2 knick knack, props, and celadons  ...(I am sure my husband is smiling reading my last statement...)

...looking forward to drowning myself in Authentic Thai food though

I am building up our holiday 'mood' by posting this ...

  6. Never heard of this dish before, but looks yummy! What's the purpose of the grounded roasted rice? Is it for flavour or texture?

    1. This my first attempt after watching it on SBS some years ago.
Its both, it gives some crunch nutty texture and flavour. Most salad or 'kerabu' from Penang, Kedah and Perlis will have ground roasted rice added.
